Community Planning brings together all the major public, third, and private sector agencies in our area, working in partnership with each other and with local communities to plan and deliver better services for the people of Dumfries and Galloway.
There are five public bodies that have a legal requirement to facilitate community planning and ensure the Partnership carries out its functions efficiently and effectively.

- Local NHS Board
- Police Scotland
- Scottish Fire and Rescue Service
- South of Scotland Enterprise
In addition, Third Sector Interfaces are mentioned in the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 guidance.
Work takes place at a national level, led by the Community Planning Improvement Board which is supported by the Improvement Service.
